Meet RMACAC!

Having met SACAC earlier this week, we'd like to also introduce you to the Rocky Mountain Association for College Admission Counseling. We're excited to welcome our RMACAC colleagues to San Antonio for the Super Conference this month!

Member States: Arizona, Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming

Founded: 1967 - they are currently celebrating their 50th year!

Current Membership: 500+ members

Major Programs:

  • College Fairs - fairs for students in major cities in the region (this spring's fairs are in Denver, Tucson, and Phoenix)
  • Bus Tour - a multi-day college visit program for counselors to learn about the colleges of a region (this year's tour is in Arizona)
  • High school counselor professional development program
  • Learn a Latte Web Series - videos prepared to help counselors learn about topics in college counseling, accessible via the RMACAC YouTube channel
  • Mentorship Programbrings together new and experienced members of the counseling profession to facilitate professional growth and development

New Initiatives:
In celebration of their 50th anniversary, RMACAC is recognizing members with these additional awards:

  • Care Bear Award – This is a person with the biggest heart of gold and would literally give you the shirt off their back in a blizzard.
  • Best Hash Tag Award – This person can come up with the perfect tag line or hash tag for any situation.
  • You Rock RMACAC Award – This award is for a person who goes above and beyond for RMACAC.  They live, sleep and breath all things Rocky Mountain!
  • Outstanding Philanthropist Award – This award is for someone who’s passion for helping students achieve their dreams doesn’t stop when the day ends.
  • Bubbles Award – This award goes to the person with the most bubbly and enthusiastic personality.

Conference Traditions:
RMACAC sponsors a student scholarship and the winners of that award are announced at the annual conference. Ten scholarships are given, two per RMACAC member state.
Additionally, RMACAC gives the following awards at their conference each year:

  • Rising Star Award (early career)
  • High Five Award (mid-career)
  • Roger H. Campbell Award (career-long excellence)
  • Cynthia Gales Award (service to the organization)
