CommitteesAt the heart of our o rganization is the active involvement of each TACAC member. Together, we serve students and develop as admissions professionals. We hope you will explore our committees and consider volunteering for either a committee or a program: Advocacy & Ethics - The Advocacy and Ethics Committee exists to educate members on NACAC's Guide to Ethical Practice in College Admission as well as keep membership informed of policies that affect our jobs as educators. We strive to ensure that higher education is available to all students and that policies and practices remain student-centered. Advancement - Develop partnerships with companies and organizations to sponsor TACAC's programs and events. Works with Conference Planning's Exhibitor subcommittee. College Fairs - Responsible for the planning, coordination, and execution of college fairs at both the national and regional levels. National College Fairs are held in conjunction with NACAC in Austin, DFW, and Houston. Regional Fairs are created by TACAC and are planned for San Antonio, El Paso, and the Rio Grande Valley. Communications/Marketing - Keeps the membership informed about local and national concerns. Produces the TACAC newsletter and is responsible for all conference promotional materials, publications, and social media. Manages the image and branding of the association. Conference Planning - Develops, coordinates, and implements the annual spring conference. The conference planning committee includes several subcommittees. Access, Opportunity, & Impact - Assesses concerns and needs of underrepresented admission counselors, secondary counselors, and students. Membership - Recruits new members for TACAC and NACAC and works to sustain annual membership among current members. Develops programs, such as Fellows & Mentorship, to meet those needs and build relations. Professional Development - Communicates with the membership regarding professional development topics and programs at local, state, and national levels. Hosts in-person institutes and virtual programming throughout the year. Reviews and selects presentation sessions for the annual conference. |
